Company ProfileSGP has been a fully owned family business since 1918 when the company was
acquired by the great-grandfather of the existing management team and
incorporated into a private limited company.
Tracing its antecedents to February 1871 SGP was one of the leading educational publishers in the United Kingdom for over a century. Since 1902 SGP specialised in compiling and publishing the standard reference works to education throughout the United Kingdom with The Education Authorities Directory, The Primary Education Directory and the Special Education Directory. The Board of Directors have decided that SGP will no longer be involved in either publishing or database management and the offices are now closed. The company continues in existence solely as a property management company.
Throughout its long history, SGP had one primary objective: to be the source of the most accurate name and address information for educational establishments throughout Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Its database - compiled and maintained since 1947 - was cared for by a team of experienced data researchers and the annual research "spend" was in excess of £250,000. SGP were members of the UK Data Publishers Association
Over 137 years, SGP built the highest reputation for its integrity and the extreme accuracy of its data. It had a wide active client base all of whom appreciated SGP's philosophy of providing the greatest accuracy at the lowest cost to the client. SGP's team includes Chairman Mike Lawler (USA), Managing Director Kate Darby, Director Karen Pierce (USA).
